first day of school

Last Wen. the 19th was kaley and Payton's first day of school and today was Brock's. Payton and Kaley are both liking school the both like there teachers. Its very hard to believe that Kaley is in first grade this year and Payton is in 3rd.
Today was Brock's first time ever riding the bus and he couldn't have been more excited. I can't wait for him to come to find out what he thought about it.

change in plans

well surprise surprise there is a change in the plans. The doctor came in this morning to tell me that is urine was growing 2 things, very unusual which made them think that is was a contaminated specimen. So the contacted to infectious disease person and she said that it looks like it was. So great news is we get to go home yeah! There is nothing wrong no infections anywhere. I am so thankful and know that the power of prayer. Thanks to everyone.

mason

I will start at the beginning because a lot of you may not no the whole story.
On tue night we got home and I put mason down on the couch and he just wasn't acting right his breathing was off and he just wouldn't wake up fully so we talked to the doctor and deiced that a E.R. visit would be best just because he is a 8 day old and his breathing wasn't right. O and I guess I go back a little to that he hasn't pooped in 2 days. Ok well we went to the E.R. and when we got here they took his vitals and temp. and with that he pooped. A lot and almost instantly he was back to himself ( as much as a 8 day old is himself). But the doctor wasn't convinced that was the problem and wanted to run blood work a urine and also a spinal tap ( for meningitis). Kenny and I had a hard time letting them do the spinal but with all of our reserve and a call to our doctor we deiced that was what needed to be done. Rather be safe then sorry and with a thing like meningitis that is nothing to mess around with.
So on I go. The spinal fluid and blood cutlers will take 24-48. at 24 hours they are 95% accurate and at 48 they are 100%.
Kenny stayed last night then had to leave for work from here this morning and Brock and I came up at 7:30 for his feeding and to talk to the doctor. Great news is that his spinal and blood growth at this point are negative (still have to wait the full 48 to be 100% sure) But his urine is growing something. At this point were not sure what but something. There thoughts are that since I was group B strep positive and there were only able to give me 1 does of antibiotics that he has a infection from that but there are not really sure. We have to wait till tonight to be sure. Or it could passably be reflux. Where the urine can go from the bladder back up to the kidneys and cause a infection that way.
Either way Mason has to be on antibiotics for the next 2 weeks at least. And that means in the hospital for that long could be long but we are praying not. At least for the last 2 days he has been given antibiotics so that's 2 days down and at least 12 to go.

Sorry if any of this doesn't make sense I tend to babel or make very long run on sentences but its all here. I think.

I am going to try and keep our blog updated with all the new info we get. We are awaiting the results of a ultrasound he had earlier of his kidney's and bladder. And also to find out what he is growing in his urine culture.

mason

On May 11 we welcomed our newest son Mason Robert. He weight 5# 10oz and was 18 3/4 inches long. He has been such a easy going baby, but I guess when you have 2 older brothers and a older sister that's bound to happen .

Here he is during his first bath at home. He didn't like all that much but he didn't scream to loud
Here he is after his bath all snug.
Here he is at 1 week old. That is so hard to say it doesn't seem possible that he should be a week already. Today is Kenny first day back to work and I'm sure he can't wait to get out of there today.

I love Fridays

I just have to say that I love Fridays. This is the only day of the week that we really don't have anything going, it is normally my laundry and cleaning day, we just hang out and have a fun day. Today was partly laundry day but I ran out of detergent so we had to run to meijer's for some washing soda. In my mom's group we have been trying new things to save money and last session we learned how to make our own laundry soap. I was very sceptical about it so the first load I did was on Kenny's work clothes and it worked great so that has been out new laundry soap. So that is a picture of Brock helping me make it. Just for a little FYI I was also sceptical because we have a front load washer and you are only aloud to use the HE detergent and with a little research I found out the reason why. In normal laundry soap they put in something that makes the soap suds and in the HE formula they don't. So this laundry soap it perfectly safe for front load washers.

In our mom's group we also made glass cleaner and all purpose cleaner. Again very in expensive to make, and works well.
Here are to recipes for them all. If you use them and like them please pass them along. I will also put in a recipe for liquid fabric softener I was told it works well but we don't use fabric softener so I haven't tried it.

Laundry Soap
In a zip lock bag, it is 1/2 borax, 1/2 cup WASHING soda (not baking soda it is down the laundry isle), and the 2/3 of a bar Fels-naptha soap I put mine in a food presser to grind it up so it is like the other 2 ingredients. Then mix altogether and add 1 1/2-2 tablespoons to each load of laundry.

Glass Cleaner
In a spay bottle mix, 2 cups of water, 1/2 cup rubbing alcohol, 1 tablespoon of ammonia, If you want you can add a little food coloring I did but I don't think I will again just because it turned my towels colors.

All Purpose cleaner
In an spray bottle mix, 2 tea borax, 1 tea washing soda,4 tea vinegar, 1 tea dish washing liquid, and 2 cups hot or distilled water.

Liquid Fabric Softener
8 cups of water, 6 cups distilled white vinegar,1 cup baking soda, and 10-15 drops of essential oils of choice (optional)
You will need a 1 gallon container. First add baking soda to plastic container, then add 1 cup of water to start, slowly add the vinegar to the bottle as the vinegar and baking soda will start to fizz, then add the rest of the water swirling around and cover venting the top a few times, last add the essential oil if you want them.
Add 1 cup in you final rinse cycle for each load but give the bottle a good shake to stir up the oils if you are using them. You could also fill the downy ball and drop it in.

If anyone else has money saving things that they use and love please let me know.

Kaley's glasses

After a long search we have found Kaley's glasses. We got them thur. night and she has worn them to school on fri. she has done really well with them, we were really worried she would hate them and not want to wear them at all, but all things considering she is doing wonderful and we really haven't had any fights about them.

hard to imagine

Yesterday was a pretty boring day form Brock and I. I worked on our taxes most of the day and he very happily got to watch cars. You would think he has never seen that movie and while he watches it he gets all of his cars out and plays out parts of the movie with them. It is so fun to watch him do that.

Then when Payton and Kaley got home from school she had a appt. for her to get a eye exam. About a month ago we received a letter home from the nurse saying she didn't pass her school eye exam. Well she did really good in the exam and we found out she has a astigmatism in her eye which is causing her to she blurry. So needless to say she has to get glasses. She will have to wear them all the time but he did say if she is going out to play she doesn't have to wear them but he thinks she will want to wear them all them time just cause everything will be more clear for her. Well one wouldn't think that that would be that big of a deal, but for kaley it was we went out to try on some different frames and it took me about 10 or 15 min. to get her to put 1 pair on. After trying on about 20 or so different frames I decided that I couldn't pick them out all on my own because she looks so different to me, so we decided to go when Kenny can go with us to help us pick. This morning she didn tell me that she wanted the pink Hannah Montana frames. They were cute they had tiny rhinestones on them so right up kaley's alley. We will have to see so tomm. when she gets home from school we will go pick some out.

On a different note. With everything that has been going on with Kenny's job we have been trying to reduce our bills. One of our bigger bills that we couldn't lower was Brock's speech, which is 50 dollars a weeks so it is between 200 and 250 a month. and on a side note when we went yesterday morning there was a sign saying that Feb. 17 rates are going to be increased. So instead of reducing that bill be were going to increase that one. O well what are we going to do he really needs his speech and is showing improvement. Well I had to call the insurance company yesterday for something with are taxes and when we were done I ask the question I ask just about every time I am on the phone with them "has are plan added speech therapy yet?" and to my surprise he did a little research and told me "yes". I could not believe it. So as of Jan. 1 his speech is covered and we didn't even know it. I had to call and talk to a different department yesterday because where he goes is considered out of network and are detectable is 300 and they will only cover 70% but within 25 miles of our house there is no in network, so I has to call them and since there is no in netwok therapist the will cover where he goes as in network. That will make are detectable 150 and they will cover 90%. Since we didn't know they covered it now we have already met are detectable and we also have a credit.
So long story but it proves that if you just let things go and pray about it god will deliver.
