change in plans

well surprise surprise there is a change in the plans. The doctor came in this morning to tell me that is urine was growing 2 things, very unusual which made them think that is was a contaminated specimen. So the contacted to infectious disease person and she said that it looks like it was. So great news is we get to go home yeah! There is nothing wrong no infections anywhere. I am so thankful and know that the power of prayer. Thanks to everyone.

mason

I will start at the beginning because a lot of you may not no the whole story.
On tue night we got home and I put mason down on the couch and he just wasn't acting right his breathing was off and he just wouldn't wake up fully so we talked to the doctor and deiced that a E.R. visit would be best just because he is a 8 day old and his breathing wasn't right. O and I guess I go back a little to that he hasn't pooped in 2 days. Ok well we went to the E.R. and when we got here they took his vitals and temp. and with that he pooped. A lot and almost instantly he was back to himself ( as much as a 8 day old is himself). But the doctor wasn't convinced that was the problem and wanted to run blood work a urine and also a spinal tap ( for meningitis). Kenny and I had a hard time letting them do the spinal but with all of our reserve and a call to our doctor we deiced that was what needed to be done. Rather be safe then sorry and with a thing like meningitis that is nothing to mess around with.
So on I go. The spinal fluid and blood cutlers will take 24-48. at 24 hours they are 95% accurate and at 48 they are 100%.
Kenny stayed last night then had to leave for work from here this morning and Brock and I came up at 7:30 for his feeding and to talk to the doctor. Great news is that his spinal and blood growth at this point are negative (still have to wait the full 48 to be 100% sure) But his urine is growing something. At this point were not sure what but something. There thoughts are that since I was group B strep positive and there were only able to give me 1 does of antibiotics that he has a infection from that but there are not really sure. We have to wait till tonight to be sure. Or it could passably be reflux. Where the urine can go from the bladder back up to the kidneys and cause a infection that way.
Either way Mason has to be on antibiotics for the next 2 weeks at least. And that means in the hospital for that long could be long but we are praying not. At least for the last 2 days he has been given antibiotics so that's 2 days down and at least 12 to go.

Sorry if any of this doesn't make sense I tend to babel or make very long run on sentences but its all here. I think.

I am going to try and keep our blog updated with all the new info we get. We are awaiting the results of a ultrasound he had earlier of his kidney's and bladder. And also to find out what he is growing in his urine culture.

mason

On May 11 we welcomed our newest son Mason Robert. He weight 5# 10oz and was 18 3/4 inches long. He has been such a easy going baby, but I guess when you have 2 older brothers and a older sister that's bound to happen .

Here he is during his first bath at home. He didn't like all that much but he didn't scream to loud
Here he is after his bath all snug.
Here he is at 1 week old. That is so hard to say it doesn't seem possible that he should be a week already. Today is Kenny first day back to work and I'm sure he can't wait to get out of there today.
