The doctor came in this morning to tell me that is urine was growing 2 things, very unusual which made them think that is was a contaminated specimen. So the contacted to infectious disease person and she said that it looks like it was. So great news is we get to go home yeah! There is nothing wrong no infections anywhere. O and I guess I go back a little to that he hasn't pooped in 2 days. Ok well we went to the E.R. and when we got here they took his vitals and temp. and with that he pooped. A lot and almost instantly he was back to himself ( as much as a 8 day old is himself). But the doctor wasn't convinced that was the problem and wanted to run blood work a urine and also a spinal tap ( for meningitis). Kenny and I had a hard time letting them do the spinal but with all of our reserve and a call to our doctor we deiced that was what needed to be done. Rather be safe then sorry and with a thing like meningitis that is nothing to mess around with.
So on I go. The spinal fluid and blood cutlers will take 24-48. at 24 hours they are 95% accurate and at 48 they are 100%.
Kenny stayed last night then had to leave for work from here this morning and Brock and I came up at 7:30 for his feeding and to talk to the doctor. Great news is that his spinal and blood growth at this point are negative (still have to wait the full 48 to be 100% sure) But his urine is growing something. At this point were not sure what but something. There thoughts are that since I was group B strep positive and there were only able to give me 1 does of antibiotics that he has a infection from that but there are not really sure. We have to wait till tonight to be sure. Or it could passably be reflux. Where the urine can go from the bladder back up to the kidneys and cause a infection that way.
Either way Mason has to be on antibiotics for the next 2 weeks at least. And that means in the hospital for that long could be long but we are praying not. At least for the last 2 days he has been given antibiotics so that's 2 days down and at least 12 to go.

Sorry if any of this doesn't make sense I tend to babel or make very long run on sentences but its all here. I think.

I am going to try and keep our blog updated with all the new info we get. We are awaiting the results of a ultrasound he had earlier of his kidney's and bladder. And also to find out what he is growing in his urine culture.

mason

On May 11 we welcomed our newest son Mason Robert. This is the only day of the week that we really don't have anything going, it is normally my laundry and cleaning day, we just hang out and have a fun day. Today was partly laundry day but I ran out of detergent so we had to run to meijer's for some washing soda. In my mom's group we have been trying new things to save money and last session we learned how to make our own laundry soap. I was very sceptical about it so the first load I did was on Kenny's work clothes and it worked great so that has been out new laundry soap. So that is a picture of Brock helping me make it. Just for a little FYI I was also sceptical because we have a front load washer and you are only aloud to use the HE detergent and with a little research I found out the reason why. In normal laundry soap they put in something that makes the soap suds and in the HE formula they don't. So this laundry soap it perfectly safe for front load washers.

In our mom's group we also made glass cleaner and all purpose cleaner. Again very in expensive to make, and works well.
Here are to recipes for them all. If you use them and like them please pass them along. I will also put in a recipe for liquid fabric softener I was told it works well but we don't use fabric softener so I haven't tried it.

Laundry Soap
In a zip lock bag, it is 1/2 borax, 1/2 cup WASHING soda (not baking soda it is down the laundry isle), and the 2/3 of a bar Fels-naptha soap I put mine in a food presser to grind it up so it is like the other 2 ingredients. Then mix altogether and add 1 1/2-2 tablespoons to each load of laundry.

Glass Cleaner
In a spay bottle mix, 2 cups of water, 1/2 cup rubbing alcohol, 1 tablespoon of ammonia, If you want you can add a little food coloring I did but I don't think I will again just because it turned my towels colors.

All Purpose cleaner
In an spray bottle mix, 2 tea borax, 1 tea washing soda,4 tea vinegar, 1 tea dish washing liquid, and 2 cups hot or distilled water.

Liquid Fabric Softener
8 cups of water, 6 cups distilled white vinegar,1 cup baking soda, and 10-15 drops of essential oils of choice (optional)
You will need a 1 gallon container. First add baking soda to plastic container, then add 1 cup of water to start, slowly add the vinegar to the bottle as the vinegar and baking soda will start to fizz, then add the rest of the water swirling around and cover venting the top a few times, last add the essential oil if you want them.
Add 1 cup in you final rinse cycle for each load but give the bottle a good shake to stir up the oils if you are using them. You could also fill the downy ball and drop it in.

If anyone else has money saving things that they use and love please let me know.

Kaley's glasses

After a long search we have found Kaley's glasses. I worked on our taxes most of the day and he very happily got to watch cars. You would think he has never seen that movie and while he watches it he gets all of his cars out and plays out parts of the movie with them. It is so fun to watch him do that.

Then when Payton and Kaley got home from school she had a appt. for her to get a eye exam. About a month ago we received a letter home from the nurse saying she didn't pass her school eye exam. Well she did really good in the exam and we found out she has a astigmatism in her eye which is causing her to she blurry. So needless to say she has to get glasses. She will have to wear them all the time but he did say if she is going out to play she doesn't have to wear them but he thinks she will want to wear them all them time just cause everything will be more clear for her. Well one wouldn't think that that would be that big of a deal, but for kaley it was we went out to try on some different frames and it took me about 10 or 15 min. to get her to put 1 pair on. After trying on about 20 or so different frames I decided that I couldn't pick them out all on my own because she looks so different to me, so we decided to go when Kenny can go with us to help us pick. This morning she didn tell me that she wanted the pink Hannah Montana frames. They were cute they had tiny rhinestones on them so right up kaley's alley. We will have to see so tomm. when she gets home from school we will go pick some out.

On a different note. With everything that has been going on with Kenny's job we have been trying to reduce our bills. One of our bigger bills that we couldn't lower was Brock's speech, which is 50 dollars a weeks so it is between 200 and 250 a month. and on a side note when we went yesterday morning there was a sign saying that Feb. 17 rates are going to be increased. So instead of reducing that bill be were going to increase that one. O well what are we going to do he really needs his speech and is showing improvement. Well I had to call the insurance company yesterday for something with are taxes and when we were done I ask the question I ask just about every time I am on the phone with them "has are plan added speech therapy yet?" and to my surprise he did a little research and told me "yes". I could not believe it. So as of Jan. 1 his speech is covered and we didn't even know it. I had to call and talk to a different department yesterday because where he goes is considered out of network and are detectable is 300 and they will only cover 70% but within 25 miles of our house there is no in network, so I has to call them and since there is no in netwok therapist the will cover where he goes as in network. That will make are detectable 150 and they will cover 90%. Since we didn't know they covered it now we have already met are detectable and we also have a credit.
So long story but it proves that if you just let things go and pray about it god will deliver.

misc.

Payton went to the Perrysburg tournament 2 weeks ago and did very well he got second place. He also went to Oregon's tournament last sun. and also placed 2nd. We are very proud of him he has been working really hard at practice and listening to the things his coach is trying to teach him, and this really shows. At Perrysburg he pinned his first 2 matches and on the 3 match he lost by points. At oregon it was a little different it was a round robin which means instead of being in a bracket he has to wrestle all the kids in his weight. He pinned the first kid in about 20 seconds, 2nd kid he beat him with points and the 3rd he pinned him he lost to the 4th kid by points and the 5th kid he pinned. His 5th kid was a girl and that was a little different for him I don't think at first he was very comfortable with wrestling her and then I think mid way though he thought there's no reason why I can't she wants to wrestler so he ended up pinning her. We have one tournament this weekend and maybe 2 next weekend, we will see. Its a long day for all of us but Kaley and Brock try to be the best that they can and for the most part with a lot of snacks and toys they are very good.

This past week we bought the babies car seat but we soon realized that are 3 year old is still at the weight for the car seat. It's Brock's first day of his new school, Payton and Kaley get grade cards, we find out what we are having (we better be able to tell this time) and the most important thing of all is it is Brock's 3rd birthday. Like when she was 1 1/2 at or old house she got into the refrigerator and cracked open a dozen eggs one at a time. Then there was the again getting in the fridge and playing in the butter spreading it all over the kitchen and making pictures with it on our dining room table. There are plenty more stories but the most recent one is thur. was supposed to be a nice night Kenny was working till 6 so I was going to cook a early dinner and the kids need to clean there rooms up (weren't that bad) and then we were going to go shopping for Kenny. Well when Kaley came home from school I told her our plans and she flipped about her room so I took her in there and showed her the couple of things that needed work. Well 45 min. later I was able to start cooking dinner, needless to say we didn't get to go shopping because I was a little frustrated. Later on I asked her to switch the laundry and put Brock's sheets from the washer to the dryer, no big deal she loves to do that and has always done a wonderful job at it. I went down right before bed to grab Brock's sheets to make his bed for bedtime and to my surprise when I opened the dryer door out fall a boat load of dryer sheets. So I started counting just the ones I seen I didn't pull anything out because it was still damp and ended up with 61. That's half the box! Kenny went down last night to grab them out and brought up the sheets and the dryer sheets that I had pulled out. He counted them all in total there was 92 dryer sheets that is 28 short of a big box. I think he was a little surprised he really thought I was over exaggerating he thought maybe 20 ha he apparently doesn't remember who did this task.
So I was wondering does anyone have a "funny" stories like hers and trust me I was not laughing at the time but last night I just suck my head and wondered what were we thinking

One down one to go

This morning we had Brock's evaluation to see if her qualified to continue on to preschool for his speech. All went well it was a little silly for me to drive down to bowling green again thought. We were under the understanding that they wouldn't know anything until he was he was done with all of the therapist but by what his teachers tested and his speech therapist found he was qualified. so he went back in the room and I was given paper work. O well. He had a hearing test and passed that and they tried to do a vision screening but he can not tell them what to pictures are so they couldn't do that. But all the other things they test him on were fine so he will go to preschool for speech and nothing else. He starts on his birthday and will go mon. and wen. he may ride the bus I need to call the bus garage and see if Kaley's bus has car seats in the bus if not then we will take him. We are very grateful for this program it is a wonderful thing are insurance doesn't cover speech because they don't think that it is needed in kids, we found out later that a lot of insurances don't cover speech. We are hoping the more changes are insurance changes that hopeful;y they will see this as a need. Brock does go to one on one speech also and we pay 50.00 a week for him to go. Witch 3 days of speech a week he is doing better he try's to say things now and continues everyday.

Then on another note we are so excited to go to the doctor on mon. hopefully we will find out what we are having YEAH!

christmas

well its that time a year again when we get the house all ready for the holidays. Payton really wants another brother and kaley really wants a sister.

midterms came home on fri. and both kids are doing wonderfull. Payton is really working hard at straingt O's the quarter and he is almost there on his mid-term he had all O's and one S+ so he is almost there. Kaley was moved up to he next (highest reading group) reading group she is really working hard at reading and spelling she trys to sound out everything and spell on her own. Brock is also doing good he is trying harder at trying different words and different sounds.

other then that it is cold rainy and nasty out I just wish it would snow. Can't wait for a good thanksgiving dinner hopefully kenny dosen't have to work, he is supposed to go to work at 6pm but they were told fri. that they were off thanksgiving but they had problems on sat. so he is thinking he will have to work. we will see tomm. I just keep telling myself its only thanksgiving and we can eat at 4 so that way he can enjoy it to.

why?

I have not updated or wrote anything on here sense I made my original blog, mainly just because nothing has happened. (which in our house is amazing) Well I decided today that every time I yell at the kids or tell them to stop something doing something because we don't want them breaking something or putting a hole in the wall nothing happens, but when they are doing something they are supposed to be doing that's when things get broke. Like today Brock was going to let Zoe out to go the bathroom when his fingers slipped and he fell hitting his head on the curio cabinet and breaking the side glass. thankfully and amazingly there was no blood anywhere. There should have been because it shattered. Needless to say we were scared to death and Brock was crying but we mostly think he was afraid he was going to get in trouble. But all is well we will just go get a piece of glass cut for the spot and you will never know. But it never fails when you try to avoid something nothing happens but when all is normally that's when things happen. Why is this?

Well on another note we went to the doctor today all is well with the baby. We had another ultrasound and it actually looked like a baby you could see everything except what it is. o well next month when we go I will be 16 weeks so we should be able to see if everything works out.

random
